ENG 270 is a literature course and a writing course. This means that the university finds it a feasible task to study a subject matter (literature, and specifically the Old Testament) and learn necessary elements of writing. Essentially, the University of Kentucky curriculum has been designed so that six credits of information and education are condensed into a single three credit course.
Such an arrangement might seem more efficient, cheap, expedient, and user friendly, but it presents some difficulties that you should be aware of. You’ll be expected to display proficiency in writing, citation, research, and style, all the while learning as much as you can about the Old Testament. So be forewarned; the Old Testament as Literature is two things.
